[Joseph Smith] Joseph spends several days at home. Adam Black swears out an affidavit stating that 154 men threatened his life on Aug. 8. Joseph calls him a liar.

That is exactly why Joseph Smith created the Danites - to threaten with great bodily harm (or worse) those brethren in the church who disagreed or challenged him on his many false doctrines and practices that he introduced.
