Grant is vice-president) reportsthe meeting of an "Afro-American Club, recently organized here for the purpose of promoting the social and political interests of the colored people of this city." The club's leader comments that "the [anti-Mormon] Liberal party had always treated the Afro-Americans WITH DISDAIN."
