... Every young man in the Church should refrain from the use of hot drinks, as well as tobacco and liquor, and from the use of meat except in the way that the Lord has directed. But you can see what the result would be if we were to enforce a rigid rule of this character. * we should be reluctant to give recommends to young men who would refuse to abstain from the use of tobacco.
