Elder Bruce R. McConkie, speaking at a BYU devotional, denounces the "spiritually immature" who "devote themselves to gaining a special, personal relationship with Christ," singling out for special censure "a current and unwise book which advocates gaining a special relationship with Jesus." The book's author, George Pace, writes a public letter of apology.
