Final issue of SEVENTH EAST PRESS includes an april-fool insert parodying the DAILY UNIVERSE. Headline is "ROTC reveals plan to deploy MX on campus," The MX story is accompanied by a photo of BYU President Jeffery Holland with other BYU officials in a ground-breaking ceremony. Another article announces plans to implant land mines to discourage students from taking short cuts across the grass. President "Holliday" is quoted as saying, "Sure we're going to lose a few students at first. But the kind of kids who would cut across the grass don't belong here at BYU anyway." In another article about censorship at BYU, Jae R. "Bailiff," academic vice-president, says, "I'm glad you asked me about that. Censorship at BYU is so negligible, the topic need not even be discussed. And I refuse to discuss it any further." An advertisement for "Deserted Book" features "Developing a Personal Relationship with the Apostles, by George Peace and Questions to Gospel Answers, by Egg MacMurrin. An advertisement for the "Desperate News" promises to include fast-offering envelopes in their Sunday edition. Bullock & Losee Jewelers consideres taking court action because of a derisive imitation of advertisements they frequently run in the Daily Universe. "My husband and I felt it was in very poor taste," JoAnn B. Losee tells the real DAILY UNIVERSE, "and most likely reflects the content of the rest of their paper.

[Joseph Smith] The town of Far West begins to develop, with 1,500 Saints, 150 houses, 6 stores, and 1 schoolhouse, which is also used for a church. Later, other Saints will arrive from Kirtland and the population will swell and spill over out of Caldwell into Ray, Daviess, and Carroll counties. Sidney Rigdon builds the biggest house, with double logs; it includes an endowment room. Of the 5,000 people living in Caldwell, 4,900 are Mormons.

In the early spring of 1838 an effort was made by the local authorities [in Kirtland] to draw the line of fellowship on practices which then seemed tending to demoralize, among which was dancing and late night associates, to which little heed was paid, and soon a long list of names was left with the High Council to be dealt with, and notice was given to each by its clerk.

[Apostle Wilford Woodruff Journal] I read a letter from Nellie Woodruff At Ashleys Fork giving an account of 2 Men killing an Animal in the Country Sumthing of the Panther kind that measured 9 feet in length 3 1/2 feet high & weighed 200 lbs. It was shot with 17 Balls Before it died. It was Considered the largest Animal of the kind Ever killed in the Rocky Mountains.

[Brigham Young Sermon] President Brigham Young Said I thought while looking at the school Children to day that I should see a much larger assembly of school Children in the spirit world when we meet with all the Children who have lived on this Earth & Died without sin, & I thought would their be as many grown Persons worthy to be with them in proportion to the number of teachers with them to day. But I think there will not.
Again President Young said Joseph the Prophet told me that the garden of Eden was in Jackson Co Missouri, & when Adam was driven out of the garden of Eden He went about 40 miles to the Place which we Named Adam Ondi Ahman, & there built an Altar of Stone & offered Sacrifice. That Altar remains to this day. I saw it as Adam left it as did many others, & through all the revolutions of the world that Altar had not been disturbed.
