Brigham Young's office journal states: "Pres[ident] Young had some conversation with his Br. Joseph about the form and principles of a Republican Government. The President remarked in a republican government the people have a right to interfere when the Officers of the Government are taking a wrong course; he also remarked that [Joseph] Morris the crazy prophet would give fight to this people if his numbers were strong enough." (3)
