[David O. McKay] At 11:45 a.m., I called on President George Albert Smith at his home. He phoned earlier this morning and said that he had been sick all night''worried as well as sick.' Said he was worried especially regarding the appointment of the President for the B.Y.U. I then said that probably I should come up to see him, and he said, 'yes, I wish you would.' He then said that he had not talked to his son Albert, but had found out that his (Albert's) compensation is $15,000. Said with respect to the B.Y.U., 'it is a case of our calling him (Albert) on a mission to this position, and I am sure that there is no doubt he would respond.'
