Award-winning author Brian Evenson announces his resignation as BYU English professor to join the faculty at Oklahoma State University. Because of an anonymous student's complaint to an apostle about the violence and "darkness" in Evenson's published work, BYU's officials were requiring him to cancel his most recent book contract with New York publisher Knopf or face termination. BYU's spokesperson comments: "The University's sense of mission and Brian's sense of mission were quite divergent."
