  1. Rudger Clawson's Diary-01 confirms the above entry:

" ... The political situation with reference to the election of a senator to Congress by the legislature now in session was discussed. It was thought by the brethren that, owing to the charges of bribery that are at present under investigation and other things, none of the candidates in the field were exactly suitable for the position and that, therefore, a dark horse should be brought forward. It was the unanimous sentiment of all present for Pres. Geo. Q. Cannon and it was agreed that an influence should be used to accomplish his election to the high office of United States Senator. ..."

" ... We agreed that something should be done to relieve the state deadlock in the Legislature. We also thought it would be best if Geo. Q. Cannon could go [to the U.S.Senate]. We are to work to this end. ..."

  4. It was the will of a false prophet inspired by the devil that George Q. Cannon be a U.S. Senator.

It was the will of the Lord that George Q. Cannon be refused a seat in the U.S. Senate due to his continuing to live in polygamy.

Lorenzo Snow was a bladder full of hot air.
