[Apostle Abraham H. Cannon Journal] [Father George Q. Cannon] asked me what I understood concerning Mary conceiving the Savior; and as I found no answer he asked what was to prevent Father Adam from visiting and overshadowing the mother of Jesus. 'Then' said I, 'he must have been a resurrected Being.' 'Yes,' said he, 'and though Christ is said to have been the first fruits of them that slept, yet the Savior said he did nothing but what He had seen His Father do, for He had power to lay down His life and take it up again. Adam, though made of dust, was made, as Pres. Young said, of the dust of another planet than this.' I was very much instructed by the conversation and this day's services. 1. GQC and AHC were 2 extremely confused individuals - two of the LDS church's "Befuddled Fifteen" of the 1880s.

Jesus Christ came down and was "transfigured" by the power of the Holy Ghost (the mind of the Father and the Son per 1Cor.2:10-16 and Philip.2:5), "overshadowed" the virgin Mary (per Luke 1:35 and Alma 7:10), and she thus conceived in her womb (by the Holy Ghost). Jesus' change from his pre-mortal glorified body into a single cell, uniting with Mary's ovum would have been something like the miraculous and mighty change or "dissolution" that occurred when a person was being transported or beamed down by the transporter in a Star Trek TV episode. This was a once for all time and eternity event occurring July 1st, 6 B.C., and culminating in Jesus' birth 9 months later on April 1st, 5 B.C.

  2. And we have seen and do testify that the Father [JEHOVAH] sent the Son [Jesus Christ] to be the Saviour of the world. (1John 4:14).
