[Angus M. Cannon] I spoke to Bro[ther]. [Charles W.] Penrose about an article he wrote for the [Improvement] Era, calling the woman of Endor a witch. I told him Pres[ident]. John Taylor told me in spring of 1855, that the Prophet Joseph [Smith], said that woman was a prophetess of God, who dwelt in seclusion because of the edict of Sam[ue]l. against any one possessing a fermiliar [sic] spirit. Parley P. Pratt, when I mentioned the same thing to him, in fall of 1856, he said she was one of Samuels wives.

That was NOT the prophet of God Samuel who appeared unto Saul.

That was the devil himself who "transformeth himself nigh unto an angel of light", or in this case, tried to transform himself nearly unto a true prophet of ancient Israel, that appeared unto the spiritually fallen Israelite king Saul.

Samuel was in the paradise of God ABOVE.

The devil ascended from the pit of hell BELOW to tell Saul that that is where he would be tomorrow - in hell with the devil and his demons.

Here is the key verse in 1st Samuel 28:

[19] Moreover the LORD will also deliver Israel with thee into the hand of the Philistines: and TO MORROW SHALT THOU AND THY SONS BE WITH ME: the LORD also shall deliver the host of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.

The 4 sons of Saul were:

Jonathan, a righteous man whose heart was knit with David's, killed at Mt. Glib, but with the prophet Samuel in Paradise.

Abinadab (aka, Ishui). killed at battle of Mt. Gilboa.

Malchishua. killed at battle of Mt. Gilboa.

Esh-Baal (aka, Ishbosheth). SURVIVED battle of Mt. Gilboa.

Thus we see how the devil is a LIAR!

typo: "Glib" should obviously be Gilboa.

another key verse of 1st Samuel 28:

[13] And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods [actually demon spirits masquerading as angels of light, or as prophets of God] ASCENDING OUT OF THE EARTH [i.e., OUT OF HELL].

    the final key verse:

[14] And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, AN OLD MAN cometh UP [from the pit of hell]; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul [falsely] perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself.

When anybody dies and goes to the Paradise of God to be with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and all the holy prophets since the world began, they are as they were in their 20s, not as old men or old women.

More lies from the devil who is the father of all lies.
