L[yman]. J[ohn]. H[enry]. S[mith]. H[eber]. J. G[rant]. Jno. [John] W. Taylor talked business of saving church property from Gov[ernment] thieves.
[They decide "it was best to get rid of the Church property." Subsequently church property throughout Utah was put into newly formed corporations to avoid seizure by the federal government.]

Didn't the feds seize it anyway after 1887 Edmunds-Tucker and then rented it back to the church?
ReplyDeleteIm not sure the dates, but yes, properties were seized, and rented back. Debts mounted, leading to Lorenzo Snow's tithing push.
