110 years ago today - Feb 19, 1907

Apostle and U.S. Senator Abraham Smoot declares to the Senate that cases of "new" polygamy are rare; that they are not sanctioned by the Church; that every case since 1890 "has the express condemnation of the Church;" and that he himself had always opposed polygamy. The last two claims are false.
