[Apostle Rudger Clawson Diary]
A letter from Geo. D. Pyper, Sec. Sunday School Union, was read by the clerk. He reported that the Sunday School board was contemplating the propriety of publishing some cards with the Lord's Prayer printed on them. A question, however, had arisen as to whether Joseph Smith's version or the Bible version should be adopted. The difference in the two versions, he said, was this. In the Bible version it says, "Lead us not into temptation" [Matthew 6:13]; in Joseph's version, "Suffer us not to be led into temptation." After some discussion, it was decided to leave the matter open until the First Presidency should all be present with the Twelve to take action.
