[Leonard Arrington]
I learned yesterday that there were at least two additional persons called in by their stake presidents in connection with the "inquisition" directed by Elder [Mark E.] Petersen. One was Tom Alexander, the other was (tho I did not hear it directly from him) probably Jim Allen. These two were "called in" before the public announcement of the inquisition in the Provo Herald. In neither case would the stake president say who had called him, but it was apparent that it was Elder Petersen. It was also apparent that they had been called in because they had contributed an article for Sunstone. So it was an inquisition of Sunstone more than of the individuals. In each case a number of questions had been asked about Sunstone and why they had contributed articles to it. ... Tom said he was upset about being called in and the stake president tried to reassure him that he would give back to Elder Petersen a very positive report. Tom said he would not hesitate, on this account, to continue to contribute articles to Sunstone and Dialogue.
