[Heber J. Grant]
We afterwards called on the widow of [disfellowshipped apostle] Matthias Cowley at the home on West Temple Street.
May Edwards was very appreciative of our call and so also was Sister Cowley.
I assured Sister Cowley that I was very pleased that Mattie had finally confessed that he had done wrong at the time he was performing plural marriages after the Manifesto. I told her if he had been willing to confess ten years ago that he had done wrong I would have been perfectly willing for him to have been permitted to do temple work, etc. She said she had never heard of that and was very glad to know it. I am thinking some of going to the funeral tomorrow, but perhaps it would not be wise.
