The Lieut Govornor H. C. Kimball made a verbal speech. He said we are as free as we ever shall be. The Lord will soon Come to reign on the Earth and we are preparing for it. I say to this Assembly be of good Cheer. You shall never be hurt. God will be our friend [and] deliver us. Our Enemies shall feel the power of God upon them. This is the kingdom of God, & when we ask the United States to be admitted into there Union it looks to me like asking alms of the devil.
