LDS Vernon Law receives the Cy Young Award for best pitcher in baseball from the Baseball Writers Association of America, and he wins the Lou Gehrig award (1965). Harmon Killebrew is voted the Most Valuable Player of the American League (1969), and Dale Murphy is MVP of the National League (1982, 1983).
