Joseph and others help the Colesville Saints begin building their houses in Kaw Township, 12 miles west of Independence, by laying logs for their cabins. The first log is placed by 12 men to represent the laying of the foundation of Zion in Missouri. Sidney Rigdon dedicates the land for the gathering of Zion.
