Today an interesting negotiation was concluded by the Deseret Museum. This is the purchase of the old log cabin sometimes known as the Duell [i.e., Osmyn Deuel] house (in reference to its builder) and sometimes as the [Albert] Carrington house (in reference to one of its early owners). The cabin was one of the first to be erected in the Old Fort; in 1849 it was removed from the Old Fort to its present location, -- on the Jacobs property, corner of West Temple and First North streets. It has been purchased by the Church from its present owner, Brother Zebulon Jacobs, and is to be removed to the Vermont Building and set up in its original form.
