Orson Pratt and Henry G. Sherwood began the first survey in Salt Lake City. It is completed three weeks later.

    The correct date for this entry should be Mon. Aug.2, 1847 per Wm. Clayton's Journal, 379. The survey was completed by Aug.25 per WW Journal (ed. by Staker), 132.
