170 years ago today - May 15, 1844

Regarding his mummies and papyri, Joseph Smith tells Josiah Quincy, "I want you to look at that little runt of a fellow over there. He was a great man in his day. Why, that was Pharaoh Necho, King of Egypt! [Ezekiel, 27:13,15] ... That is the handwriting of Abraham, the Father of the Faithful,... This is the autograph of Moses, and these lines were written by his brother Aaron. Here we have the earliest account of the Creation, from which Moses composed the First Book of Genesis."

    Correction: Should be Ezekiel chapters 29-32 (NOT 27:13,15). Also see below for all references of "Necho":
