Gates met with the First Presidency and represented that Major Pond had suggested to her and her Sister Zina Williams Card, that they go on a lecturing tour in the East, under his management, next fall and winter, as he believed that they would make a favorable public impression. As Major Pond was the man who managed Ann Eliza Young's lecture tour, Sister Susa felt that it would be a sort of triumph for two of Pres[ident]. Young's daughters to lecture in favor of Mormonism under the same management, in which Ann Eliza spread her falsehoods. ...
