(Zion's Camp) Joseph says he is very depressed in this place because he senses there was a great deal of bloodshed here at one time; he says, "Whenever a man of God is in a place where many have been killed, he will feel lonesome and unpleasant, and his spirit will sink." Many of the men worry about milk sickness. They pass through Dayton, Ohio; some people ask them who they are, and they answer very evasively: they are from the East, they are going west, sometimes one leads them and sometimes another! There is a court-martial that evening for Moses Martin. He is acquitted, but Joseph gives him a stern warning.
