Conversation with Dr. G. Homer Durham of the University of Utah, regarding the proferred honorarium of $125.00 in connection with the talk "Our Dwindling Sovereignty," 4th Annual Pi Sigma Alpha Lectureship, Feb. 13, 1952.

Pres. Clark: I was stunned with this check business here. ...

Pres. Clark: It is clear out of all proportion. Where do you get this money from?

Dr. Durham: This is an appropriation to the Institute of Government in the field of promoting political science. We have a small sum each year from the Board of Regents.

Pres. Clark: It is state money then.

Dr. Durham: Yes.

Pres. Clark: It being state money I will keep it. But if I can turn it back to you and have you accept it for some special purpose I will be happy to do that. I have never taken an honorarium. I went down to Arizona and turned it back and let them use it for some needy students. ...
