[President Heber J. Grant Diary] I cast my vote today for Alf. M. Landon for President, for Henry H. Blood for Governor, for Calvin Rawlins and about four others on the Democratic ticket, and voted the balance on the Republican ticket. (1)

Final results in the US presidential election are published. Martin Van Buren, the Democratic candidate won the election. Although Geauga county did not favor Van Buren in the election, his victory strengthened the political position of local Democrats there, including the Mormons at Kirtland. (2)

President Gordon B. Hinckley leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints reached a major milestone today. He has now become the oldest serving prophet in the history of the church. (3)
