[Wilford Woodruff Journal] 5th I had an interesting interview with Mr Simeon Tylor aged 83. He was a Patriot of the revolution. He was in the battle at Bunker hill & the taking of General Gates & in other battles but was never wounded.

  1. "& the taking of General [Horatio] Gates ..." This would have been at the Battle of Camden, SC on Aug 16-19, 1780, a disastrous American defeat. Gates fled the battlefield ahead of his army and didn't stop running for 3 days. He escaped into NC, his career over. His army didn't. Gates, born in England, was by far the worst American General of the Revolutionary War.
