D&C 86 (Kirtland): Parable of the apostasy. The Lord is sending out the word now and blades begin sprout. Angels want to harvest but the Lord restrains them until the harvest is fully ready. The priesthood came down through history in the Prophet's ancestors, hidden from the world. Joseph is to restore all and be a savior to the world.

The Mormons still profess to talk with angels, visit the third heaven, and converse with Christ face to face.--Their form of baptism is changed to "I, John the Messenger, baptize thee" &c. The gift of imparting the Holy Ghost is yet professed.

[Joseph Smith Diary] December 6th Translating and received a revelation explaining the Parable [of] the wheat and the tears [tares] &c.

  1. "Joseph is to restore all and be a savior to the world. "

This is NOT Joseph Smith. This is a future full-blooded American Indian Moses who will be a savior or deliverer to the house of Israel - i.e., the aboriginal or indigenous peoples of America, Asia, Australia, the Pacific Islands, Nunavut, and Greenland.

  2. My reading is that it is Joseph Smith, or him and some of his cohorts. The "ye" in v.7 suggests it is those who are receiving the revelation. V.8 suggests it is those with a lineal priesthood. V.9 says "ye" (IE those receiving the revelation) are the lawful heirs. V.10 says "your life" and v.11 says ties this to those who will be saviors.

I don't see how you can tie it to some future Lamanite.

7 Therefore, let the wheat and the tares grow together until the harvest is fully ripe; then ye shall first gather out the wheat from among the tares, and after the gathering of the wheat, behold and lo, the tares are bound in bundles, and the field remaineth to be burned.
8 Therefore, thus saith the Lord unto you, with whom the priesthood hath continued through the lineage of your fathers—
9 For ye are lawful heirs, according to the flesh, and have been hid from the world with Christ in God—
10 Therefore your life and the priesthood have remained, and must needs remain through you and your lineage until the restoration of all things spoken by the mouths of all the holy prophets since the world began.
11 Therefore, blessed are ye if ye continue in my goodness, a light unto the Gentiles, and through this priesthood, a savior unto my people Israel. The Lord hath said it. Amen.
