[Apostle John Henry Smith Diary] Ogden

In the Congress today the statehood Question was sprung and matters at once got pretty warm. R. N. Baskin, Gov. A. L. Thomas, and C. C. Godwin spoke against it. Col. John P. Irish, Tom Patterson, Frank J. Cannon, Dave Evans and Franklin S. Richards and Senator Warren spoke in favor.

The vote was in favor of statehood, Utah not voting.
