170 years ago today - Apr 2, 1843

Joseph Smith believed that William Miller's predicted day of advent was set for April 3, 1843. On the preceding day, therefore, April 2, Joseph recorded his well-known revelation that Christ would not come until December 23, 1890 ... [see D&C 130:14-15]

The correct interpretation for D&C 130:14-15 is that if Joseph Smith had remained faithful to the pure doctrines of the KJV Bible and the Book of Mormon only and not introduced the abomination of polygamy into the church, he, Joseph Smith, would have lived until Dec.23, 1890 and then the Lord would have called him home in peace and safety. There would have been no succession crisis or splinters that occurred in 1844, as there exists today.
