Orson Pratt Jr. [son of Apostle Orson Pratt] writes to Brigham Young to refuse a mission call he had previously accepted: "During your recent visit to St. George, I informed you of the change that had taken place in my religious views, thinking that, in such a case, you would not insist on my undertaking the mission assigned me. You received me kindly and gave me what I have no doubt you considered good fatherly advice. I was much affected during the interview and hastily made a promise which, subsequent reflection convinces me it is not my duty to perform. . . . Should any thing hereafter occur to convince me that my present decision is unwise I shall be ready to revoke it." Pratt's "change . . . in my religious views" was that he did not consider Joseph Smith a prophet nor the LDS church true.

"... he did not consider Joseph Smith a prophet nor the LDS church true."
ReplyDeleteWe in The Church of Jesus Christ [WHQ: Monongahela, PA] have always believed in the following:
Joseph Smith was ONLY a prophet when his prophecies and teachings agree 100% with the KJV Bible and the Book of Mormon ONLY.
The LDS Church has the following beliefs & practices that are NOT "true":
All ceremonies for the dead.
Endowments with masonic handgrips, arm signs, keywords, garments.
Temple building.
High priests.
Patriarchs.
Marriage for eternity.
Pre-mortal existance of the spirits or souls of men & women.
Plurality of Gods and Goddesses.
God's wife (Eternal Mother in Heaven Goddess).
God the Eternal Father was once a man.
God the Eternal Father has flesh and bones body.
Angels of God have flesh and bones body.
Eternal families (temple sealings).
Aaronic priesthood.
3 degrees of glory or kingdoms in eternity.
Here are a few more items of LDS church that are NOT 100% true and faithful to the KJV & BoM scriptures:
ReplyDeleteWater for sacrament. (True = Wine only from grapes - red, or white, if red not available).
Joseph Smith as the Choice Seer. (True = a future full-blooded American Indian Moses).
15 Apostles. (True = 12, no more, no less).
