By letter from the Presidents of the 55th Quorum of Seventy they ask the following question: "Brother James H. Linford, one of the Presidents of the 55th Quorum of Seventy, was ordained by one of the Apostles as a Patriarch. Inasmuch as he was not ordained a High Priest is he still a Seventy?" Brother [B. H.] Roberts moved that Brother [George] Reynolds be a committee of one to present this question to the President of the Church to be answered, with instructions to explain that two of the First Council of the Seventy were ordained Patriarchs and still retained their position as members of the First Council. Carried.

  1. There are no High Priests nor Patriarchs in The Church of Jesus Christ (WHQ: Monongahela, PA), the only true succession of the Restored Gospel, and the only Church on the face of the earth that correctly interprets all of the Book of Mormon and the KJV Bible. These offices are "false offices" introduced by Joseph Smith that contradict the Book of Hebrews and Ephesians 4:11-13. Jesus Christ is our ONE and ONLY High Priest. The only ordained offices in the church authorized are Apostles (12), Evangelists (70), Elders (aka, Pastors), Teachers, Deacons, and Deaconesses (women only). We have over 700 women/sisters in The Church who have been ordained to this very important office.

    1. Sounds like your church is progressive as far as women's equality goes. Do you see women beginning to occupy the higher offices of the priesthood?

  2. Teachers, Deacons, and Deaconesses are NON-Priesthood offices in TCOJC (WHQ: Mon,PA). The priesthood is after the order of the SON of God per Alma 13. There is no scripture to support ordaining women into the priesthood.

  3. Is there a scripture that specifically bars women?

  4. Galatians 1:

[11] But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
[12] For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

  5. 1st Timothy 2:

[12] But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man,

  6. Alma 13:

The priesthood is after the order [commandment] of the SON of God [Jesus Christ]. The priesthood has never been after the order of the DAUGHTER of God.

  7. 1st Corinthians 14:

[33] For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
[34] Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak [preach]; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.
[35] And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak [preach] in the church.

With that being said, WE DO ALLOW our women to teach our children (in Sunday School, etc.) who have not yet reached the age of accountability (boys and girls ages 12 and under).

  8. Finally, here is the scripture that supports the ordination of women as deaconesses:

    Romans 16:

[1] I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea [Greece]:
[2] That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also.

The Greek word that is translated as "servant" in verse 1 is "diakonos", or in English "deaconess".

So with that scriptural evidence, why doesn't the LDS church ordain women as deaconesses?

  9. Do you accept everything in the bible as literally the word of God?

Are women forced to remain silent in your church? Why did you alter the verse about women speaking to mean preaching?
