President John Taylor, living underground to avoid prosecution for polygamy, answers a request from a member: "Your letter asking the priviledge of 2nd anointing for your parents John Perry and Grace Williams Perry who are deceased, has been received. You are at liberty to have them officiated for and receive their 2nd Anointings; but those who officiate for them must be those who have already had that sacred ordinance. By presenting this to Bro. M. W. Merrill he will have the Ordinance attended to. Very respectfully, John Taylor"
