First Counselor Sidney Rigdon gives an Independence Day sermon which Joseph Smith publishes as a pamphlet: "And that mob that comes on us to disturb us, it shall be between us and them a war of extermination . . . for we will carry the seat of war to their own houses, and their own families." In the Jul issue of the ELDER'S JOURNAL, the prophet also writes: "But we do not believe in setting the Negroes free."

This exact entry word for word is in DMQ, MH:EP, p.628.

This sermon directly resulted in Missouri Governor Lilburn W. Boggs' extermination order to the Missouri militia of Oct.27, 1838.

The trouble all began with Joseph Smith's false revelations of 1830-31 to settle in Jackson County, Missouri.

JS & Co. should have settled in Ohio and Illinois and then branched out to the other Free states ONLY, and then use this as a launching pad to teach & preach the gospel to the Aborigines in the Unorganized Indian Territory.
