Grant Diary] The Presidency reread the report of the Council of the Twelve regarding the appointment of a patriarch for the Church and also Joseph Fielding Smith's argument that was made before the Council in favor of Hyrum G. Smith's son Eldred being made the patriarch. None of us seemed favorably inclined to appoint Hyrum G.'s son. No decision was reached. ...
